GROUP STUDY
Group life provides a deeper level of spiritual growth and accountability. Groups help members put their understanding into action during 40 Days of Purpose. The biblical principles of 40 Days of Purpose are reinforced through six weeks of group DVD curriculum designed to take the weekend message deeper by studying specific scripture passages and applications. The small group curriculum comes with two teaching options—a DVD of Rick Warren teaching the material, and a transcript of the DVD so that your host may prepare and teach the lessons themselves. The teaching DVD contains six videotaped sessions, including a “Leader Lifter” where the host is given coaching tips for the upcoming session, plus a 20-minute lesson taught by Rick Warren. DVD-based curriculum equips your new hosts to lead a group even if its for the first time. HOST HOME STRATEGY 40 Days of Purpose is an ideal platform to launch a small group ministry – whether in place of or in compliment to an existing Sunday school program. We’ll equip you to launch groups using the Host Home strategy – a simple plan which recruits “hosts” instead of “leaders.” We’ve found that equipping group hosts with video teaching sessions overcomes hesitation and will raise up new leaders you didn’t even know you had! Led by Rick Warren, each DVD lesson also includes weekly preparation suggestions and encouragement called, “Helps for Hosts.” Group hosts relax and find it easy to guide the group discussions outlined in the study guide. We’ll also offer easy ideas to connect people by shared interests like life-stage, hobbies, career, and neighborhoods, so your groups will stay together far beyond 40 days. STUDENT GROUPS 40 Days of Purpose isn’t just for adults! God’s purposes are relevant to all ages. Churches have experienced tremendous healing and renewal among families of all make-ups during the campaign. Including your youth and children’s ministries helps families to share and act on what they are learning. Your Resource CD includes small group studies and resources prepared especially for primary and high school students. Doug Fields, Saddleback student pastor, created “Welcome to the Planet,” especially for high school students. Primary school students will grow through “What’s the Point?” written by Kurt Johnston, Primary School pastor. The purposes are unpacked for elementary students in “What’s Bugging You?” by Craig Jutila, pastor to children. Optional 40-Day resources are also offered for most ages. |
