Forty-day campaigns are based on biblical principles that are transferable regardless of size, denomination, or location. The power of a church-wide campaign experience is the combination of four critical elements:

Personal Spiritual Growth

This is the real heart of 40 Days of Community—getting people to focus personally on the principles of the campaign through the daily devotional readings. Better Together: What On Earth Are We Here For? is a complete campaign workbook that is meant to accompany daily Bible reading.

Group Growth: The Community Connection

One of the most powerful elements of the campaign is encouraging people to explore and experience true biblical community. Groups are the primary engine throughout 40 Days of Community, and through them people will discover and experience authentic community and grow to identify and serve the needs of each other, your church family, and your community.

Weekend Services

Weekend services are the platform that aligns the community within your congregation. Each service is designed to reinforce the 40 Days of Community daily devotional readings, small group teachings, and events. Your congregation will be challenged to put what they are learning into action in practical ways that have a big impact.

Catalytic Events

Every step of the way, 40 Days of Community integrates events which serve as a catalyst to deepen community within your church family and challenge your members to reach out to the community beyond your church. Your 40-day journey begins with a dynamic Kick-Off message, motivates with a Ministry Fair, and concludes with Celebration Sunday. Plus, your groups will put their learnings into action by launching local mission projects to serve practical needs in your community.

Kick-Off Event

The campaign kick-off is the foundation upon which the campaign is built. It focuses your church on the purpose of the campaign and gets everyone on the same page prior to the campaign launch. Pastor Rick’s Kick-Off message, "We’re Better Together", will inspire your congregation to commit wholeheartedly to this campaign.   This message is the motivational launch point that will establish the momentum you need to launch the campaign. The Kick-Off Event can be scheduled around your church’s calendar and can be viewed on DVD.

  • Missions Project
  • One of the primary purposes in 40 Days of Community is to get your church outside of your four walls and into the local community to express love and good works in tangible ways. Jesus said in Matthew 5:16 "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven." (NASB).  During 40 Days of Purpose, you focused on corporate renewal as a church body. In 40 Days of Community, you are focusing outward to your local community with the purpose of making a life-changing impact.

  • Ministry Fair
  • Paul says in Galatians 6:2 (CEV), "You obey the law of Christ when you offer each other a helping hand," and that is what your congregation will do for each other in the Ministry Fair – offer a helping hand to one another. The focus of the Ministry Fair in your church for 40 Days of Community is to offer a helping hand to one another by connecting the right resources with the right needs. You are most likely familiar with the concept of a Ministry Fair from 40 Days of Purpose, and while this has the  same title, this Ministry Fair has been modified and is called "People Helping People" to specifically fit the them for 40 Days of Community.

  • Celebration Sunday
  • As you wrap up 40 Days of Community, you are going to have a lot to celebrate. Effective leaders know the value of celebrating the great things God does in and through their organization. Celebration Sunday can be used as a launch point, not an ending point. It can be an inspiring culmination, rallying everyone to a unified vision or turning the hearts of your people toward God in a fresh way.
